There is no question that parent involvement represents an exceptionally powerful way of making schools more effective, and of dramatically enriching children's experiences.

Educational researcher Herbert Walberg points out that 12 years of 180 six-hour days in school add up to only 13% of a student's waking, learning time during the first 18 years of life.  The rest, 87% is spent out of school, primarily at home (Walberg).

So, in addition to financial support, each family is EXPECTED to participate in activities at St. Agnes School.  It is important to realize that parental involvement is the life-blood of our small school.  It is requested that each parent find the activity that best suits you and then get involved.

It is also requested that each family participate in the Fund for Excellence (a fund raising effort to enhance teacher salaries).  This allows parents the opportunity to show their support of the faculty.

Additional annual fund raising projects include an Art Auction, a Golf Tournament and a School Carnival.  Occasionally the PTO or Athletic Association sponsor smaller fund raising projects based on need.

There are numerous opportunities for parents to be involved at school:  Homeroom Mothers/Fathers, Playground Supervisors, Field Trip Drivers, Kitchen Helpers, Read Aloud, Athletic Coaching, and much more.  Volunteering is satisfying.  Not only do your children love having you at school, it also provides you the opportunity to meet other parents and feel "connected" to your child's environment.

Please help us help your child.  Be a person who makes a difference. Be a Volunteer.  Get Involved!
